Who we are
This website is operated by Balance Farm (“we”), which publishes the Cognitive Coefficient Index through the Cognitive Coefficient Institute and advises clients through Cognitive Coefficient Advisory. Questions about this policy, or about your information, go to privacy@cognitivecoefficient.com.
What we collect, and why
Briefing requests. When you request a briefing we keep what you enter: your name, work email, organisation, role, the kind of institution you represent, the practice you are interested in and your message. We use it to reply to you. A copy is emailed to our team so a partner can respond.
Subscriptions. When you subscribe we keep your email address, your name if you give it, and what you asked to receive. We use it only to send you those things.
Accounts. If you have an account, we keep what is needed to sign you in and to show you what your account may see: your name, email address and sign-in details. Passwords are never stored in readable form.
Shared links. Some pages are shared by private link. When a shared link is opened we record the time, the IP address and the browser that opened it, so the person who shared it can see how it is used and so misuse can be stopped.
Technical information. Like any website, our servers receive your IP address and the pages you request in order to send them to you, and may keep short technical logs to keep the service secure and working.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies, all of them to make the site work: one remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme; others keep you signed in, or remember that you have opened a shared link. We do not use advertising cookies, and there is no third-party analytics or tracking on this site.
Who else is involved
The site's typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when a page loads. Email we send, including the copy of a briefing request, passes through our email provider. Apart from these, we do not share your information with anyone, and we never sell it. We would disclose it only if the law required us to.
How long we keep it
We keep briefing requests and subscriptions for as long as they are useful for the purpose you gave them to us, and we delete them when you ask. You can unsubscribe, or ask us to delete what we hold about you, at any time at privacy@cognitivecoefficient.com.
Your choices
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, by writing to privacy@cognitivecoefficient.com. We will answer within 30 days. If a data-protection law gives you further rights where you live, we will honour them.
Children
The Institute and Advisory sites are not directed at children. The education service at /builders has its own privacy and parent notice, at /builders/privacy.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update it here and change the date at the top.
